The West Bengal government has requested a high-level probe into the incident of KolKata flyover collapse , blaming the Mamata Banerjee government for insensitivity.
The loss of life in the flyover collapse at Kolkata has moved to 24 after three more bodies were recouped from underneath the heaps of garbage of concrete and iron supports of the broken segment of the under-development span. Armed force men alongside Kolkata Police disaster management team, NDRF, fire warriors hauled out three more bodies from underneath the rubble of cement in the overnight safeguard operations, a cop said today.
The number of individuals harmed in the setback, he said, was near 90. “No one alive has been recouped… Two meandered autorickshaws separated from a couple of different vehicles have been hauled out. One lorry is still stuck inside… Whether there is anyone caught inside can’t be said,” he said. Around 60-meter-long divide of the under-development Vivekananda flyover given way on Thursday evening.
Kolkata Police registered a case against the Hyderabad-based development firm IVRCL under areas 304, 308 and 407 of the IPC and sealed the local office of the organization engaged in the flyover’s construction.
A.G.K. Murthy, Director (Operations) of the IVRCL Limited, the Hyderabad-based company that is constructing the Kolkata flyover, has sais “It is for the first time in the history of the company that such an incident has occurred. We are unable to comprehend at this stage what could have happened. It is beyond our thinking. It is like an act of god”.
Five officials of the company that was building a flyover have been detained by the Kolkata Police Commissioner Rajeev Kumar.
The area where flyover was to be constructed looks like very busy and congested area with all old building nearby. Proper planning and execution were required by the company. They say all required planning and cleaning was done prior to a start of the project. Now big question is what actually went wrong in this construction.
