England v/s Sri Lanka was the match that South African’s were eyeing on, to keep their hopes to qualify for semi’s.
For Sri Lanka, it was an important match to keep their chances alive. On winning the crucial toss their captain opted to field first. Till 15 over Sri Lankan’s bowler managed to keep the opposition quiet. It was the Buttler who launched his fireworks in last 5 overs. England made 72 in last 5 overs and it always looked that Sri Lankan bowler gave 20 more runs than what was expected.
Buttler scored 66* of 37 balls helping England to achieve the power score to defend. Buttler was awarded as the man of the match.
Sri Lanka looked off track after their 15 over when they were fielding never seemed recover as they lost 4 early wickets in quick succession. It was the Sri Lankan captain Mathews and Kulasekara tried to build the partnership which was highest 5th wicket partnership for Sri Lanka in World T20. Mathews tried his best to win the match. It was the hamstring that came in between the Sri Lanks win.
Mathews played well for his 73 of 54 balls hitting 5 massive sixer’s but it was not enough and they fell short of 11 runs.
England winning the match qualifies for the semis trashing all the hopes of the South African to be in semis.
